Exploration Name: Remote Control Helicopter
Student Proposal Writers: Rithy Ketya Lux sophat
Number of Students you want in your Final Exploration: 4
Topic: To remove the helicopter part to see how it work
Subject Area: Technology

Summarize the goals of your exploration. : At the end of the exploration we want to know how do remote controlling systems work and what type of signal does broadcast.
What do you hope to do and learn? : I hope that we will know a lot about remote control and do some work about remote control. I know that it not easy and we have to work hard on it.

What are some BIG questions that your exploration would answer?
How do remote control stuff work?
How much money does it require to build an RC helicopter?
How would your exploration help to change Cambodia?
We will write the information that we’ve been research on our blog and go outside to
share our knowledge with Cambodian people so that they know how an RC helicopter and can closely estimate how much does it cost. Furthermore they can also choose the right quality helicopter with a good price. It also help them to learn about technology.
What resources do you need to complete this exploration?
The resources that we need to buy are RC helicopter, remote broadcaster and receiver.
Do you have a mentor/expert who could help you?
Mr.Jeff

We want to learn what it inside and how it connect with something. We want to learn and we want to make one by our own if we can. We know that is exploration is complicate because we have just four members in our exploration. We just 7 weeks it very short time and we have to determine and focus about this project. For my personal idea I want to make about this Remote Control Helicopter and if we can I want to sell this book too.

Changing Cambodia

Being in Liger the exploration that change Cambodia is Entrepreneurship, Poverty. Entrepreneurship help Cambodia buy using 3D printer buy print the product. The plastic when we make the product it not a lot of chemical. It change Cambodia to use a new things and can develop country. Develop country by recycle plastic when the product is a good they can take product make it into glue and help them know to use computer and design. If have the product can sell and use and if smart can print the things that have a lot of profit and can help develop the country. Help people to think and to create things and they can think what can develop and can make interesting things that can make more tourism and when have money can use it to change Cambodia. Poverty we teach kids about play game and the game about thinking and creates things. If they grow bigger they can develop country by thinking and creates things. We teach old people about ankle spring and they listen good and if they know when they have ankle spring they can take care himself. Talking new people and share idea to help people in CPR and they can take our idea to use to help hiv people and they give the presentation to us too. When I go at my province I help my family to clean house and if the people near my house they see they can follow me. One more I help my brother know to talk little of English and when I see the rubbish I pick it if other see and big they can follow me because me small. I read book every day and do home work if the kids see they can follow me and if other kids see they can follow. I have been make the car from keyboard and need to thinking and working.

Water Safety

Water Safety messages

In class we also starting a project called Water Safety Message. We were making a message for the people in Cambodia to know more about water safety by making a poster in Inkscape. We’ve been looking at the other messages from East Africa that were developed by Tom Mecrow and make it into our own message such as drawing a new one by changing the background, the people and places. Before we draw the message in Inkscape, we were drawing it in paper and then upload it into the Inkscape. We started to paint and we are translating it into Khmer. The message that explain information about water safety we will translate in Khmer at the back, for the in front picture we are translating a sentence to show about the picture. If we have times after we finish the messages we will share it to the government.

Poverty Discretion

  • Thinking some games for kids in the province
Welcome to Poverty in Cambodia! We are a group of 13 students and one learning facilitator. We learn about poverty in Cambodia and also other countries including U.S., Zimbabwe, and Egypt. In class we do not only learn about poverty, but we also try find out the solutions to help people that live in the rural areas in the community in Kompong Chnang by researching. For our learning, we do not just learn from internet and listen to our learning facilitator, but we also invited some people that have the experiences working with the community people and go to other places to learn different things. I love to learn with this class because I can learn about Cambodia poverty and I happy to know about Cambodia poverty.  When we went to Kompong Chnang I play with kids and have fun with them and I learn about stupa. I so happy to learn with Poverty exploration.

Culture shock in Cambodia

In our project we study about culture shock in Cambodia. We focus on culture in Cambodia mostly. The reasons of making this is because we want to improve our knowledge of culture and we think that we should know about our own culture. The process of our learning is very good because we have a lot of activities like interviewing people, discussing, researching from the internet, visiting real places and having debates.  We have seven weeks to learn and we research the information to share to other people. Also we have goals to (1) make a video from our knowledge that we learned and also about the trip too, (2) conference with community and (3) blog for all the people in the world. We had a big activity to go to the trip at Siem Reap to interview the people to have more information and make ideas to share in the blog. Also in our group and when we have our Exploration Celebration when we end.

Entrepreneurship

The main thing that I learned in Entrepreneurship was I learned about 3D printer. 3D printer was one kind of machine that could print the products. I knew how to use 123 design it was so good to learned about that but it not easy when I design in computer it so hard it use 1 week to make just one product. Then when I have the design in computer already and could message to 3d printer it could print. The term vocab that I used to know a lot was feedback, Entrepreneur, Consumer, Failing Fast, Market. All of this words could help me a lot when learned in entrepreneurship thought about failing fast need to determination and where the place to buy and who was my costumer. When I learned entrepreneurship again I felt happy and learned more and more and could found the money too. When I learned a lot about entrepreneur it could be I am the expert of entrepreneur and when I grow up I this was maybe my goal in the future. My new product I thought  was armband but I don’t knew how to do yet. My team was I want to change my team because I want to learn with the new students and got new ideas as possible.  I contact the email that I know that I sell to them if they want and during the collaboration  I can sell the product by that too.

Eco Tourism Description

Exploration name: Ecotourism

Exploration dates: August 13-October 3, 2014

Number of students: 13

Essential questions:

What is ecotourism?

How can ecotourism help change our country?
Ecotourism means to travel to natural areas that protect environment and help people life at location became better. Ecotourism was also about helping to preserve the environment. Our ecotourism group went to Chi Phat to study about the ecotourism in Chi Phat. Also we learned about how ecotourism in Chi Phat are different from other ecotourism sites. Our big goal when we went to Chi Phat was to interview as many people as possible. We interviewed different people to get different answers and all the people had different perspectives. After we interviewed a lot of people we came back and studied about the information we found some areas of concern. Our group made a recommendation to Chi Phat community about the areas of concern. Some areas of concern are education, transportation, marketing, collaboration, and energy. After we finished we will send it to Martin and Prom Hong, the CBET (Community Based Ecotourism Site) directors.

Robotics Description

Name of Course: Robotics 2

Learning Facilitator: Max

Number of Students: 13

Advanced Enrichment Dates: Session 2: Oct. 20 – Jan. 16

Days we Meet: Thursday/Friday

Course Description: In our Advanced Enrichment class we learned how to build a robot and programming. When we know how to build and program we did some challenges that teacher tell us to do so teacher can know the knowledge of us. We worked as a pair and one group have one computer for program. Robot we build it from a lego brick. We used touch sensor, light sensor, gyro sensor, and ultrasonic sensor to do the challenge. The challenge that teacher gave us to do have like to help a people from a dragon and follow the shape such as a square. When we do a challenge that teacher give us to do is our robot low battery so we need to charge and spend more time on it. Sometimes we need a teacher to help us on programming a robot because it’s a hard part to learn in robot class. When we did a challenge finish at the end of the class we have a sumo game for a robot.

Forest Ecology Description

  • Ecology
Exploration Name: Forest Ecology

Exploration Dates: Oct 7, 2013 – Nov 19, 2013

Number of students: 12

Essential Questions:

(1) What is an ecosystem?

(2) What is a natural resource?

Description:  An ecosystem is the living things and the non-living things connecting with each other. The one example is algae. Algae take the sunlight for food and fish eat algae and then people eat fish. This is one connection. In Ecosystems class we had a journey book to take notes or write keywords that we don’t know what that word means. In Ecology class the first topic that we learned was tropical forest. We did not just learn only tropical forests but we also learned a lot of kinds of forests like conifers and others. A tropical forest is the forest that has rain a lot all year. We also learned about ecological relationships. Ecological relationships mean that one organism and another organism connect with each other. Ecological relationships are divided in five parts. They are parasitism, commensalism, predator-prey, mutualism and competition. Our Ecology group went to Mondulkiri province to study there. We spent six days at Mondolkiri. We met a lot of people like Bunong people. On Saturday we came back to our school and we shared what we learned.

Documentary Description

Exploration Name: Documentary

Exploration Dates: November 20 – January 17

Number of students: 12

Description: The first day of our class was very exciting because we heard from the teacher that we were going on a trip to Siem Reap for four days. It was just one week away. But we had to write our thoughts about why we would go to Siem Reap. Before we went on a trip we had to learn about shots and how to use a camera because to make a documentary we have to film. Some of the documentaries were about the sand business, rice farm and waterways in Siem Reap. The last day of the trip we rode a boat to see the waterways and even the floating village. It was a fun trip but we learned a lot too! Our goal was to make our own documentary about the waterways. At the end of our Exploration we made it, so now we have our own documentary.
